Look who arrived!!

People,I know I had gone missing for a while. Before I show you what landed in my mailbox in these couple of days, let me begin today's post with this -

I got this decorated lamp as a gift recently. since this isn't exactly the time for Diwali, I thought, I might as well post the image on this Blog. What say? isn't the earthen lamp beautiful?so, here we go-

This week I received 3 beautiful Postcards. One from my  dear penpal in Hungary-

I love to receive postcards that show  different doors and windows. The older, the better. She used a EUROPA stamp with an astronomy theme. The stamp shows Galileo-

Thank you for the very beautiful postcard and stamps my dear friend.

And the 2 other postcards are from my dear pen pal Wandervogel. She sent these to me while she was visiting Russia. Well, Wandervogel, the postcards have arrived safe in my hands!

This was just me trying to be a little dramatic :D ( Honestly, if you strain your eyes a little bit, you can see ISKCON temple in the backdrop. It is one of the largest ISKCON  temples in the world. More about this here )

I have always been a fan of vintage postcard and this one is just perfect! she says in the backdrop is the Moscow state university. And here is the stamp-

This postcard shows St.Sophia cathedral in Vologda. It has a stamp with picture of Mr. Svetoslav roerich .Apparently, he was a Russian artist who traveled to India and painted the picture of The Himalayas often and hence the stamp-

oh! and did I forget to mention that these postcards have the Matryoshka doll fabric sticker on them?! Thank you Wandervogel :)

See you all in my next post.

With love from Pondicherry...

Mondays can be so busy!! I had to disappear. A colleague and a dear friend of mine (by the way, she is also a Postcrossing member) had been on a trip to Pondicherry . Unfortunately, I was a little caught up with my life and could not make it to that trip. Nevertheless, look what she got for me-

Aren't these cool? these are  all waiting to be mailed to their next destination. I hope they get to travel far :) (Thank you Yashika for the nice gift! I for sure love them all).  Do you have any Favorites? let me know!

Teaser..

Hello, Today is Sunday. And, I am feeling too lazy  to write a long post. So, I decided to post a teaser.. :P So, here we go-

This is my postcard album full of postcards :)
And, below are pictures of some random postcards that I received-

Now, I have to tell you this...my sister in law who also started Postcrossing recently is a huge fan of paintings and illustrations. We both teamed up and purchased around 100 postcards online that were themed just on illustrations and paintings. It was totally her idea and wow!!! after  waiting a couple of weeks , I received 50 beautiful postcards.

And, one of these is going to my Dear pen pal in Spain-

This Postcard shows painting of the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh. You can find more about the artist and painting here that is all for Sunday :)

The Postcard story..

Like many other members, I am happy to be a part of the Postcrossing community that is doing its bit to save the diminishing trend of sending and receiving postcards. Its only when I started this hobby, I realized how challenging it was to spot a shop selling postcards.Having said that, I would like to show you folks a couple of Postcard books that I received from one of my colleague who recently was back from her Delhi trip.

It was really very thoughtful of her. (Thank you Sneha). These postcards are just gorgeous and contain beautiful pictures of the places of archaeological importance around Fatehpur Sikri and New Delhi. In fact, these postcards have been released by the Archaeological survey of India.  I think that is super cool! and of-course, she got me a nice fortune bell wind chime.

Speaking of this, it reminds me that I also need to show you guys what came in  a couple of days back ,within this beautiful envelope from Deutschland that my  Dear pen friend sent me.

If the stamps weren't awesome already, she included a postcard book and a postcard that she picked up from one of her trips.

And below are a few pages from inside the book in case you wondered..

Thank you Katrin! I loved every bit that came in with the letter :) I am also going to try out the yummy Pumpkin recipe that  you shared and probably make a separate Blog post on that :)

Here is something I wanted to share;I buy most of my stationary from Landmark so, this time, I found some cool bookmarks with postal theme and I knew I had to pick it up!I also liked the quote on the behind-

I am planning to send these bookmarks to my pen- pals who are avid readers :)

I guess that's all for today's post.

My little Red Mail-Box!

Hello Folks, today is 2nd October.Wish you all a happy Gandhi Jayanti. For the curious ones, Wikipedia is right here

Now, do you remember the little Red mailbox in the backyard that I mentioned in my previous post? I for sure enjoy looking at pictures of random mailboxes/postboxes around the world. I thought it would be a cool idea to post the picture of my little mailbox. So, here it is-

yes, the postbox has been tied around a tree.I know that this Post Box looks quite old. but, it is strong enough to hold the postcards that come from near and far. Sometimes, I think I must paint it and give it a make over. But, honestly, I just love it the way it is!

And this is when I receive post from around the world!isn't it exciting? what you think?!

Postal Beauties

All ya Blog bingers, I am back again as promised! Do you remember the times when we would eagerly wait for the postman? Well, in my case it would only be during the times when the final exam’s results were to be out in the mail. Gone are those days aren’t they?

Before I post further,I would like to honestly say that I am thankful to Mr. Postman who delivers each of these postcards and envelopes without complaining. There have been times when I have looked into my little Red postbox nailed to our tree in the backyard not once, but several times in a day just to make sure I haven’t missed out on taking out these postal beauties. There have been times when I have received some of the postcards torn, wrinkled with missing stamps etc. Though it saddens me, I am still happy that through these postcards, I am able to see the places which I would never have known otherwise.

So, here  we go-

Postcard #1:

I had just sent a couple of Postcards on Postcrossing and was eagerly waiting to receive one and guess what showed up in my mailbox?
this one here from Helvetia. The person who sent me this beautiful postcard was kind enough to send me cupcake stickers(of which, I used some in my planner). And of course, it had a beautiful stamp with a cool cancellation.

Postcard #2:

This one here came to me from Lviv in Ukraine. The sender says Lviv is the biggest town in the Western Ukraine. She also sent me what I believe is a train ticket .Its cool isn't it?
I liked the stamp too.. Now,I know that the envelope has not been opened neatly. That is typical me unable to control the excitement of receiving something from a far off land :D
signing off till my next post.

ḍāk

If you Google the meaning of the word 'ḍāk' here is what shows up "The postal service in the Indian subcontinent, originally delivered by a system of relay runners". Since I want to document my love towards handwritten postcards, letters and more, I decided to name my blog 'Dak Love..' as simple as that!so, here I am with my first post.

My Postal journey began when I stumbled upon the website-Postcrossing Since then, I have received a lot of nice and interesting Postcards from around the world. On this Blog, I plan on documenting these postcards, the beautiful stamps that they wore,a few wrinkles and scars through their long journey and many other cool things.Stay tuned while I collect fodder for my next post!
